For two weeks we explored a remote area of the Pakistani Pamirs rarely traveled by foreigners. Grand and wild landscapes above 4000 meters high, home to ibex, blue goats and snow leopards.
We take advantage of vertiginous paths carved into the rock, which over the centuries have been built by the inhabitants of Shimshal to access the high altitude pastures.
It is a journey that opens the doors to an ancient culture and society dominated by self-sufficiency and camaraderie; a way of life that will hardly survive many more years.
